Migration to Urban Idaho Persisted in 2000s
The migration from rural to urban Idaho continued unabated between 2000 and 2010. Eighty percent of the state’s population growth over the decade occurred in the 11 metropolitan counties, according to new 2010 census figures released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Boise, Idaho Falls and Coeur d’Alene metropolitan areas posted growth rates above the statewide rate of 21.1 percent. Pocatello and Lewiston, which showed little growth in the expansion but did not seem to be hit as hard during the recession, recorded single-digit percentage increases. Statewide the population grew 273,000 to nearly 1.57 million. Read more ...

 Under section 203(b)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), 8 U.S.C. §1153(b)(5), 10,000 immigrant visas per year are available to qualified individuals seeking permanent resident status on the basis of their engagement in a new commercial enterprise. Permanent EB-5 resident status is available to investors, either alone or coming with their spouse and unmarried children. Eligible aliens are those who have invested – or are actively in the process of investing – the required amount of capital into a new commercial enterprise that they have established. They must further demonstrate that this investment will benefit the United States economy and create the requisite number of full-time jobs for qualified persons within the United States.
