What is the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program?
The Current Employment Statistics (CES) program is a voluntary survey that collects data on employment, payroll and hours from the payroll records of a sample of employers. The main purpose of the CES survey is to estimate current nonfarm employment hours and earnings for the nation, states and metropolitan areas. Along with the unemployment rate, the data are one of the first national indicators of current economic trends each month.
Note: CES hours and earnings data in Idaho’s Information sector has been suppressed in the following MSAs: Coeur D'Alene, Idaho Falls, Lewiston and Pocatello. The data have been suppressed due to a processing error in the calculation of the estimates that was discovered. It is anticipated that the estimates will be corrected and released as part of the annual benchmark release in March 2017.
