What is OEWS?

OEWS produces annual employment and wage estimates for approximately 830 occupations based on a survey of business establishments. Collected survey data develops information regarding current and projected employment needs and job opportunities. This can be useful for students and job seekers as they search for potential career paths, as well as for employers looking to set competitive wages and make workforce decisions. Occupational wage data is also used by academic and government researchers to study labor markets and wage and employment trends.

Please note the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not encourage the use of OEWS data for time-series analysis. Review OEWS frequently asked questions for more information on data utilization.
